Primer
Roles
Product Designer
I was the lead designer on a team made up of a product manager, data analyst, frontend engineers, backend engineers, and a QA engineer.
Halo is a sentiment analysis tool used by social media teams at Walmart to segment audiences, sentiments and engagement based on custom machine learning algorithims and models. The goal of the project was to design and build a sentiment analysis and visualization bot that helped Walmart to understand in real-time, their customer’s sentiments as it relates to social media, online news and digital media sources.
At kickoff, I facilitated requirement gathering sessions with the PM, engineers and the client to understand business goals, timelines, constraints. This was followed up with stakeholder interviews to understand their unique POVs and interests. To reach our objectives as a team, we ran 2 week development sprints. This involved collaboratively identifying opportunities, discussing and navigating technical constraints with engineers to ensure project success.
Kicking off the delivery phase, involved ideation with low level wireframes to get buy-in and align with stakeholders on the best possible solutions. I presented early stage design work at demos and got feedback using moderated usability tests.
Working with a data analyst and frontend engineer, I explored different ways to visualize data, considering technical limitations (such as data viz libraries) then tested each variation with users to see which performed better.
